Who Am I?
Im just a girl who loves to cook, from a family who loves to cook. I have cookbooks with hand written recipes from my great grandparents. I come from a rich New England/Acadian-French heritage of food - but thanks to my dad (who is a gournet cook hobbiest), and my own travels around America and beyond - I have eaten food from a variety of cultures, and learned to incorporate various elements in my food.
And im damn good it!
I have finally decided to start writing down the recipes I make up in my kitchen. I try new combinations of flavours. I mix together things you would never imagine may taste good - and sometimes I am greatly surprised!
I dont cook by taste either. To me that's more of an afterthought. I cook by sight, by smell, by texture, by a feeling. I have decided that I wanted to eat something orange, something that feels like summer, something that smells like home. This is how I cook - by ALL my senses. If you cook by all your other senses first the taste part just falls into place.
And now im finally posting these dishes that I love. These are things I have made up, things I grew up eating, things that other people in my family have created that I think are awesome, and things I have tried to copy when I couldn't afford to go out to a restaurant (I have recently discovered I am AMAZING at cooking Asian dishes).
I hope you enjoy some of these recipes and I can inspire others to just get creative and create your own Edible Awesomeness!
